Meet Dr. Jonathon Harrison

A Call to Service

I grew up in a small town in northern Oklahoma where I built great friendships, learned the value of hard work, and developed a deep love for college football. My family didn’t always have it easy growing up, and many times we relied on the generosity of others to get us through some hard times. As I got older, I often felt called or inspired in the hopes that one day I could use my talents to help people and families…ones just like mine.

Years later, I spent two years living in Brazil doing volunteer work, helping people living in some of the most humbling conditions. I quickly developed a love and gratitude for them, which gave me again, another confirmation that God had a plan for me to continue on the servant path.

Choosing Chiropractic

As I contemplated my career plans in my final year at the University of Oklahoma, I think it was no coincidence that the day a friend visited a chiropractor was the day I finally knew what I was born to do. The doctor had opened my eyes to a whole understanding of health and healing I’d never even thought of! Chiropractic had made such a lasting difference in our life—it was the sort of impact I was hoping to provide others.

I completed my undergraduate studies at University of Oklahoma, before attending the prestigious Parker University in Dallas, Texas. I graduated in 2011 with a Doctor of Chiropractic. I am board certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and I am a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and National Wellness Foundation.

Pregnancy and Pediatrics

Why pregnancy and pediatrics? It’s fairly obvious—I’m pretty much a big kid, myself! There’s nothing more fun and rewarding to me than seeing happy, thriving kids. It seemed like a natural fit for me, and that’s my focus at New Directions Chiropractic.

But on an even deeper level, early on in practice, I learned how much health affects the dynamics of the family unit. It’s no secret that parents whose children battle significant health conditions have a 60% divorce rate.

Raising sick kids takes a toll on family relationships. When you’re sick, the only thing that matters is getting better. When you’re healthy, the possibilities are endless. And for me, family is everything. My job is to help kids and parents achieve their greatest potential.

There is no doubt that I’ve got the BEST job in the world!
